Safety of Marijuana

Marijuana is a much safer alternative to many of the current drugs we use in medicine daily, especially opioids. There are many uses of marijuana that can be helpful to patients now, but  there is a lot of research that still needs to be done. That means people need to be careful and educated about marijuana safety and consult with certified and willing providers in this field. We enjoy opening minds to the possibilities of plant-based medicine. We also speak locally about evidence-based marijuana medicine and provide comprehensive education to patients and medical students state-wide.

Utah Medical Marijuana Provider & Founder Tim Pickett

Born and raised in Utah, I understand and am engaged in the local religious landscape and can speak to the barriers of marijuana use in our unique culture. I was educated at the University of Utah, and work in acute care surgery, trauma, weight-loss surgery, and emergency medicine. This has let me see the cost of the opioid epidemic in our communities.

No one in medicine is taught about marijuana other than the recreational risks and federal laws against it. Over time, and with three people very close to me who needed it for medical reasons, I came to embrace it as a useful plant and have become a self-taught marijuana expert. I am now an advocate of its use to help people gain control of their symptoms safely.

I aggressively educate myself through all available paths to be the best licensed marijuana provider in Utah. I am an active member of the Society of Cannabis Clinicians and United Patients Group. I own and operate Utah Therapeutic Health Center, PLLC , a full-service Utah cannabis evaluation and education medical clinic. My team is the most highly educated group of marijuana clinicians anywhere in Utah.

I also have close relationships with a large Utah marijuana grower/cultivar and help develop new products specifically designed for my patients in Utah. Some of these are already available in the pharmacies!

I am very excited about the emerging Medical Marijuana landscape in Utah. We are behind the nation in education, but Utah’s unique timing to legalize Medical Marijuana after prop 2 is a good thing to me. We know a lot more about marijuana safety today.

Leadership & Community Involvement

I am currently working hard on comprehensive, Utah specific, educational materials for marijuana medicine at I speak and teach medical groups and students about Medical Marijuana dosing protocols and the endocannabinoid system. Reach out if you would like to know more, or schedule an event.

Mind Lift, LLC, the owner of, donates a significant portion of earnings to benefit Crohn's research and opioid dependency treatment research with cannabis. Both of these issues are very dear to me and are much of the reason I am involved in this space.

I look forward to working with you, perhaps in person, to help you safely and legally access and use cannabis in a way that promotes health, wellbeing, and balance.

Please join me in lifting minds.
